About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Plot Works (“we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information. It applies to personal information we collect through our website (plotworks.com.au), when you contact us, and when you apply to work with us.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply to us. By using our website or providing us with personal information, you acknowledge that it will be handled as described in this policy.
The personal information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you deal with us:
- Enquiries: when you contact us through the Contact form, by email or by phone — your name, email address, phone number (optional) and the details of your enquiry.
- Job applications: when you apply through the Careers form — your name, email address, phone number, the type of role you’re interested in, the information you tell us about yourself and the résumé or CV you upload (which may include your work history, qualifications, licences and referees).
- Website use: when you visit our website — information about your visit such as the pages you view, the date and time, the site that referred you, your browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. We collect this through cookies and similar technologies (see “Cookies and analytics” below).
- Spam protection: when you submit a form, a security check (Cloudflare Turnstile) processes technical information such as your IP address and browser characteristics to confirm the submission is from a person rather than an automated program.
We don’t ask for sensitive information (such as health information, racial or ethnic origin, or criminal record). Please don’t include it in an enquiry or application unless it’s relevant to the role and you’re happy for us to receive it.
You can make a general enquiry without identifying yourself or by using a pseudonym, but we’ll usually need your contact details to respond, and we can’t consider a job application without them.
How we collect personal information
We collect most personal information directly from you — through our website forms, by email, by phone or in person. We collect website usage information automatically when you visit our site. If you apply for a role, we may also collect information about you from referees you nominate, with your agreement.
How we use personal information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and communicate with you;
- discuss, quote for and deliver our construction services;
- assess job applications, contact applicants and manage recruitment;
- operate, maintain, secure and improve our website, including understanding how it is used;
- protect our website and forms against spam, fraud and misuse; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t use it for direct marketing without your consent.
Who we share personal information with
We share personal information only as needed for the purposes above, including with service providers who help us run our website and business:
- Website hosting: Vercel, which hosts our website.
- Email delivery: Resend, which delivers website form submissions (including any résumé you upload) to our team by email.
- Spam protection: Cloudflare, which provides the security check on our forms.
- Website analytics: Google, which provides Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics.
- Business email and storage: Microsoft 365, where we receive and store enquiries and applications.
We may also disclose personal information to our professional advisers (such as lawyers and accountants), to referees you nominate, where you consent, or where we are required or authorised by law to do so.
Our service providers handle personal information on our behalf and are expected to protect it appropriately.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they or their sub-processors operate. When information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies and analytics
Our website uses Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are visited and how people arrive at them. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information about your visit in a form that doesn’t directly identify you. We don’t send the contents of our Contact or Careers forms to Google Analytics.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Storage and security
Our website doesn’t store the contents of form submissions: they’re sent securely to our team by email and kept in our business email systems. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including using encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limiting access to the people who need it. However, no method of transmitting or storing information over the internet is completely secure.
How long we keep personal information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. If you apply for a role and aren’t successful, we may keep your application for a reasonable period in case another suitable opportunity arises — let us know if you’d prefer we didn’t. When personal information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it’s inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below. We’ll respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first. If we can’t give you access or make a correction, we’ll explain why.
Complaints
If you have a concern or complaint about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us using the details below. We’ll look into it and aim to respond within 30 days.
If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
